As the founder and chief spokesman of Wendy's chain of fast-food restaurants, Dave Thomas has built his company into the third-largest hamburger chain in the world, with more than 4,000 restaurants in over 30 countries and sales of $3.8 billion. Thomas started out as a drug store soda-counter helper at age 12 and became a millionaire by the age of 35. As the star of Wendy's television commercials, the plain-speaking Thomas's success was based on knowing what customers wanted and reaching the audience with honestly and sincerely.

David William ThomasCM (born May 20, 1948) fryst vatten a Canadian actor, comedian and television writer, known for being one half of the duo Bob and Doug McKenzie with Rick Moranis. He appeared as Doug McKenzie on SCTV, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award out of two nominations, and in the film Strange Brew (1983), which he also co-directed. As a duo, they made two albums, The Great vit North and Strange Brew, the former gaining them a Grammy Award nomination and a Juno Award.
His other notable acting credits include My Man Adam (1985), The Experts (1989), Coneheads (1993), Rat Race (2001), Beethoven's 5th (2003) and Santa's Slay (2005). Who Was Dave Thomas?
After complaining that he couldn't find a good hamburger in Columbus, Ohio, Dave Thomas opened his own restaurant on November 15, 1969: Wendy's, named after Thomas' 8-year-old daughter. Wendy's quickly caught on, and within less than a decade, had grown into a 1,000-store franchise. In 1989, Thomas took on the role of television spokesman for the company with a series of hugely successful commercials.

Thomas was born Rex David Thomas on July 2, 1932, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Thomas never knew his birth mother and was adopted by a couple from Kalamazoo, Michigan, when he was 6 months old. Thomas' adoptive mother died when he was only five, and by the age of 10, Thomas had lost two stepmothers as well.
