At the age of 14, the Belgian-Italian Lara Fabian was unknowingly setting the stage for an impressive international career by singing in Brussels's clubs. Three years after the release of her first album, which went gold and platinum, she released her second album, Carpe Diem, which launched the career of this singer-songwriter in French-speaking countries, especially in Quebec. Early Life and Childhood
Lara Fabian was born Lara Crokaert. She was born in Etterbeek in Belgium on 9 January Her father Pierre Crokaert is Flemish Belgian and her mother, Maria Luisa Serio is a native of Sicily. Fabian spent the first five years of her life in Catania in Sicily and grew up with Italian as her first language. Fabian returned to Belgium and began singing and dancing at age eight. She wrote her songs throughout her ten years of formal training. Fabian includes Barbara Streisand and Queen in her list of musical influences.
