Since 2007, Amy has anchored News 9 This Morning on Saturdays and Sundays -- a program that expanded to three hours in 2011. During the week, Amy is a field reporter, often doing live-shots from crime scenes or severe-weather events.

While many viewers may think sitting behind the anchor desk is the best assignment television journalists can get, Amy would disagree. She instead prefers the grit and challenge of field reporting. Her work has been Emmy nominated a number of times.

Amy majored in TV journalism at Colorado State University, but didn’t actually get into the business full-time until 2003 when plans to go to law school were diverted by an offer from WHIO in Dayton, Ohio, to report and anchor on weekend mornings.

Amy grew up as an Air Force brat and then married into the Air Force herself. She and her husband Rick have been married over 20 years and have traveled the country and the world with his career before settling in New England when he retired.

The woman bringing the news to us on the weekends on WMUR is bringing us personal news that makes us very sad.  Okay, when I say "us," I mean me.

Amy Coveno has been a news reporter with WMUR since 2007, and many of us have been watching her since then.  Amy announced her "retirement" on her Facebook page, and you can just read the comments to understand what she means to New Hampshire.

The only time I have ever seen Amy in person was at the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters Golden Mic awards ceremony, which usually happens every October.  She IS as nice and personable in the flesh as she is on the television.
