BIERY, James Soloman
BIERY, James Soloman, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born on a farm near Emlenton, Venango County, Pa., March 2, ; attended the district schools, a select school of the county, and Emlenton (Pa.) Academy; taught school for three years in the oil regions of Pennsylvania; moved to Allentown, Lehigh County, Pa., in and continued teaching for eight years; studied theology for two years; subsequently studied law; was admitted to the bar in and commenced practice in Allentown; member of the State house of representatives in ; elected as a Republican to the Forty-third Congress (March 4, March 3, ); was not a candidate for renomination in ; resumed the practice of law at Allentown and also engaged in literary pursuits; died in Allentown, Pa., December 3, ; interment in Fairview Cemetery.
