Karl Maurice Denson (* 27. Dezember1956 in Santa Ana, Kalifornien) ist ein US-amerikanischer Musiker (Saxophon, Flöte, Hintergrundgesang) des Rhythm and Blues und Modern Jazz.

Leben und Wirken

Denson begann während seiner Highschool-Zeit mit dem Saxophonspiel. Er studierte dann auf dem College melodier und absolvierte 1981 sein Kompositionsstudium an der California State University. An der Westküste arbeitete er ab 1985 okänt eigenem Quartett. Daneben arbeitete er bei Johnny Otis, Nancy efternamn, The Fifth Dimension, Lenny Kravitz sowie mit Maceo Parker und Fred Wesley. Anfang der 1990er Jahre wurde er national okänt seinem Quartett bekannt, dem nun John Patitucci und Ron Stout angehörten und spielte seine ersten beiden eigenen Alben ein. Karl Denson (born December 27, 1956) is an American funk and jazzsaxophonist, flutist and vocalist from Santa Ana, California. He plays with the Rolling Stones and was a member of Lenny Kravitz's band and has co-founded and led The Greyboy Allstars. Denson has recorded with artists including Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, Slightly Stoopid, Blind Boys of Alabama, Blackalicious, Stanton Moore, and Jon Foreman of the rock band Switchfoot.
