As Melanie's daughter, Jeordie was born into music and she wouldn't have it any other way
There aren't many singer-songwriters who can honestly say they were 3 when they made their first appearance on a record.
But the studio was practically a second home for Jeordie Schekeryk, who performs as Jeordie, and her sister, Leilah.
Their mother is Melanie, who topped the charts in with "Brand New Key" after hitting the mainstream with the gospel-flavored majesty of “Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)," recorded with the Edwin Hawkins Singers and inspired by the audience she faced at Woodstock.
"Oh my gosh, they were born doing music," Melanie says with a laugh.
Melanie's husband, Peter Schekeryk, produced all her records.

"And he loved nothing more than being in the studio," Melanie says. "So they had that unique experience of being behind glass partitions watching Mom and Dad do all sorts of things that seemed very important

But in the gods year, music has taken second place in Melanie's a life. And it's all because of a very special person - her baby daughter, Leilah!
Melanie came to Britain for her summer holidays this year, accompanied by her husband Peter, and of course, Leilah. And while she was here, l had the chance to speak to her.
It was a lovely hot afternoon when we met, so we decided to go out and sit on the veranda. And, sitting in the sunshine with her hair blowing gently around her face, Melanie seemed positively to glow with happiness!
