The film begins with a girl getting stuck after a car crash. Ray, an expert pilot and his team helps her out. Simultaneously we are taken to a Seismology unit at a local university where a professor describes how the area stretching between Nevada and California has a faultline running through the region and thus the possibility of an earthquake is massive in the r professor discovers that Nevada has been recording many minor earthquakes over the past few days. To research more and test a device created by them that predicts earthquakes, the duo go there. A massive earthquake that is 7+ on Richter scale is recorded then and the professor dies in an attempt to save a child.
Back home we are told Ray's estranged wife Emma and their daughter Blake will soon be moving in with Emma's new rich boyfriend. Ray doesn't take the news well and snaps at Emma. To conduct a rescue operation in Nevada, Ray won't be able to take h
