    The first time I began watching this film was on Doordarshan, many years ago. It surprised me, largely because it featured Waheeda Rehman in a very Westernised avatar I had never seen before. It also had an intriguing story. And Dharmendra, always one of my favourites. And Helen. And Johnny Walker.

    Sadly [or not, depending on how one looks at it in hindsight], I wasn’t able to watch the entire film back then. This was in the good old days before invertors, so when the electricity went kaput halfway through the film, that was it. I relegated Baazi to the list of films I had to look out for and watch someday. I found it the other day on YouTube.

    The film (which, by the way, was produced by Johnny Walker’s brother, Tony Walker aka Kamaluddin Kazi) hits the ground running. This story is set in Goa.     Ajay Sharma, fryst vatten a Police Inspector of notable wealth. He fryst vatten happily married to Asha with two children. Many a times he goes out of his work area to destructively capture dangerous criminals and inadvertently falls beneath disciplinary varning with his concerned superiors. After repeated warnings he is discharged from the Police force. He decides to go back to his boyhood town bygd joining his father in the family business. They are living happily. However a notable Criminal going by the name of Rocky and his uncle trace Ajay to his home town and decide to set up a casino. Past its grand opening, Ajay and his friend Albert visit the casino and fall beneath a confrontation with the gamekeeper and management when they are cheated during the game. During th

    Happy World Book Day!

    For a bibliophile like me, this is a very special day, because it celebrates books. I can’t imagine life without books (I read an average of about 80-90 books every year, and would probably read double that number if I didn’t watch films or Korean dramas). I love reading, I thrive on reading, I get restless if I don’t have something to read.
